URW Community Federal Scholarships
URW Community Federal recognizes and awards outstanding service by graduating high school seniors. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic achievements, leadership abilities, and passion for helping others.

Since 1985, URW has awarded scholarships to more than 100 student members.

School Grants

URW School Grants are available to help fund educational materials, programs and events, environmental learning trips and technology tools such as calculators, microscopes, electronic dictionaries and more.

Apply for a Scholarship

Each scholarship is $500 and a minimum of 4 awards are given each year. Applications are available online beginning in January. Applications are accepted January - March each year. We will announce recipients by May 31.

Eligibility
  • Only URW members may apply. Accounts must be in the name of the applicant. See membership eligibility details.
  • Applicants must be students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Students must be a graduating high school senior
  • All scholarship recipients must attend college full time. Post-graduate, Masters or Doctorate candidates are not eligible to apply.
  • Previous recipients may not apply for additional scholarships

Selection criteria

As a not-for-profit credit union, URW is committed to social responsibility. As a result, scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic performance and passion for helping others. Applicants are required to submit their hours of community service, grade point average, and letters of recommendation. Selection is made without regard to applicant's race, color, national origin, religious belief, sex, marital status, age, or physical handicap.

Apply

Applications are accepted January - March each year. The link to apply becomes available in January. All information contained in your profile and scholarship application is secure and will not be used for any purpose other than to process your application.

As part of the application, you will be asked to provide:
  • Your personal contact information
  • URW account information
  • High school  academic information
  • Community and school involvement, honors and awards, and work experience
  • 1000 word essay regarding community or school activities
  • High school records for high school seniors
  • One online recommendation from an instructor or supervisor
